Flat Tax of a Different Kind

Flat tax our future

MELBOURNE will become more and more unliveable until population pressure is reduced by decentralisation.

Part of the reason for Melbourne’s excessive growth at the expense of the rest of the state is the unfair distribution of the proceeds of revenue.

A sizeable flat-rate land-value tax would be higher in Melbourne, where far more of government revenue per head is expended, than in the rest of Victoria and would encourage decentralisation.
